The Pool Hustler's Handbook

Shot #1 - Under the Cue Stick

(Solution)

 Secret:

Once the shot is set-up, you will notice there is not enough room under the stick for the cue ball to pass.  That is, if you roll the pool ball on the pool table.  Instead, trying rolling the cue ball under the pool table.

 Execution:

Lay a bridge or pool cue across the width of the table.  I normally place the pool cue over the side pockets.  Challenge someone to roll the cue ball under the bridge.  Once they give up, you will merely roll the cue ball under the table.

About the only thing that can go wrong with this shot is if there is something under the pool table.  Make sure the floor is clear and you will have a sure thing.  Like my grandmother always told me, “It is as easy as taking money from a baby.”

 Trick of the Trade:

When I was twenty-two, I was playing in a bar tournament.  After the finals, I bet a guy my winnings that he could not roll a cue ball under the bridge.  He was not familiar with the shot, so I won.

When he went back to his table to get the money, I bet him double or nothing he could not do it.  Quickly he jumped at the opportunity to make back his losses.  You should have seen the look on his face when he realized his pool table had a solid base!  I never did collect on the bet because his facial expression was worth the money he owed.
